10 Free Ways To Save Money
Date: March 2010
- Place spare money in to a simple savings account. Most current accounts pay little
or no interest.
- Use a comparison service to obtain the cheapest gas and electric. Having both with
the same provider, paying by direct debit and having paperless billing will usually
provide discounts.
- Shop around for your home insurance rather than just renewing. Having your buildings
and contents insurance with the same provider will usually provide a discount.
- Had your mobile phone for some time? Ask your provider to tell you if they have a
more suitable deal for you. If you don’t require a new handset you may get a cheaper
contract or more bundles minutes and text included.
- Threaten to leave your mobile provider and often they will find a deal that was not
available until you did this.
- Shop around for broadband, costs have dropped over in recent years. Once you find
the cheapest deal, challenge your current provider, often they will then lower your
current costs in order to keep you.
- Use cash back websites, these will provide cash back on the items you are going to
buy, simply for clicking from their site to the one you wish to purchase from.
- Search the internet for available discount codes or vouchers for the shops you use.
These codes can be entered online or vouchers printed to take to the shop.
- Purchase family packs of the items that you use a lot, that don’t have best before
dates. Often great savings can be made for buying in bulk.
- Instead of buying gifts for your relatives, purchase gift vouchers. After Christmas
they will be able to buy much more with the same amount of money during the sales.
